Visiting Taal Volcano is definitely a great day trip to take when staying in Manila. It's close enough of a travel but far enough to see a different landscape than the city.
The volcano is located in the middle of Taal Lake and is still very active. To get to the island, visitors take a 20-30 minute boat ride.
Once on the Island, people can either hike or rent a horse and guide to the crater summit. With the heat, we opted for the horses. Though not a comfortable ride, it was definitely much easier than trekking up the volcano for over an hour on foot.
The best part is being able to share this visit with Matt's cousins and enjoy the experience together.
The amazing guides who walked (in sandals) alongside our horses up and down the trail.
